There is a verb in 1 Corinthians 15 that most people skip past on the way to the resurrection. This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
Put on. Not earn. Not become. Not eventually qualify for. The word is the one you use for clothing.
A wardrobe instruction, not a fitness plan
If someone tells you to become stronger, you have been handed a project with no end date. If someone hands you a coat and says put it on, you have been handed something finished that only requires agreement.
Almost everything we are taught about spiritual life gets filed under the first one. Try harder. Get further. Maybe arrive. But the sentence Paul actually wrote belongs in the second category, and that changes the whole posture. You are not being asked to manufacture immortality. You are being asked to wear what was already made.
Which means it is possible to own it and not wear it
This is the uncomfortable half. A coat in the closet keeps nobody warm.
Plenty of people believe the doctrine and still live cold. They can tell you what was accomplished and still flinch at their own name. The gap is not belief. The gap is dressing.
So the daily question is smaller and more practical than the theology suggests: am I wearing this today, or am I carrying it?
What it looks like on an ordinary Tuesday
It looks like refusing to build an identity out of the last thing that went wrong. It looks like speaking to your family as somebody who has nothing to prove. It looks like handling being overlooked without needing to correct the record.
None of that is dramatic. All of it is what a person does when they are not auditioning.
Why the words end up on fabric
Because a sentence you wear is a sentence you have to answer for. That is the point of putting it on a shirt rather than a poster.
You leave the house in it. Somebody reads it across a room. And at some point you have to decide whether you actually believe the thing written on your chest, which is a better question than most of us ask on purpose.
Get dressed
The work was finished without your help. The coat exists. It has your name in it.
Put it on.
